Biography

Professor John Toburn is Reader Emeritus and Senior Research Fellow at the University of East Anglia, UK. His main research area is economics and he specializes in trade policy and export promotion, foreign investment, industrial development and sectoral studies, particularly in South East and East Asia. He is a former Professor of Development Economics at Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University. He was a Visiting Professor at several Universities including Kobe University in Japan and Soochow University in Taiwan. Professor Thoburn is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of the Asia Pacific Economy, and is one of the participants to the panel of subject specialists for the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications.
